At deitalite, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our restaurant demand forecasting service.

1.1 Information You Provide
When you sign up for deitalite, we collect:
- Restaurant Information: Restaurant name (for reference), location (city, for weather), operating hours
- Contact Information: Email address for service communications
- Sales Data: Historical order data (item names, quantities, dates) that you upload
- Payment Information: Processed securely through Moneybird Payments (we do not store credit card details)
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
We automatically collect:
- Usage Data: Dashboard access logs, forecast views, CSV exports
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, IP address (for security purposes)
- Weather Data: We fetch public weather data from OpenMeteo API based on your restaurant's location
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Train custom machine learning models specific to your restaurant
- Generate 7-day sales forecasts updated daily with weather data
- Provide access to your private forecasting dashboard
- Communicate service updates, onboarding instructions, and support responses
- Process payments via Moneybird Payments
- Improve our forecasting algorithms and service quality (using anonymized, aggregated data)
- Detect and prevent fraud or security issues
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 Where We Store Your Data
Your data is stored:
- Sales Data: Encrypted at rest on secure local servers or cloud storage (AWS S3, Google Drive, or Dropbox)
- Trained Models: Stored securely and accessible only via your private dashboard URL
- Dashboard: Hosted on shinyapps.io (Posit's secure cloud platform)
3.2 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encryption at rest for stored data
- Access controls (only you and authorized deitalite personnel can access your data)
- Regular security audits and updates
Note: While we take reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data.
We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use third-party services (Moneybird Payments for payments, OpenMeteo for weather data, shinyapps.io for hosting). These providers have their own privacy policies and are bound by confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law (e.g., court orders, subpoenas) or to protect our rights and safety.
- Aggregated Data: We may share anonymized, aggregated statistics (e.g., "average forecast accuracy across 50 restaurants") for research or marketing purposes. This data cannot be used to identify you or your restaurant.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you cancel your subscription:
- Your dashboard access is disabled immediately
- Your sales data and models are deleted within 30 days, unless you request earlier deletion
- Billing records are retained for 7 years for tax/accounting compliance
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format (CSV)
- Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails (service emails are still required)

7. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies on our marketing website and dashboard:
- Essential Cookies: Required for the website to function (for example, session cookies for dashboard login and basic security).
- Analytics Cookies: Used to understand how visitors use our public website (page views, clicked buttons, scroll depth). We currently use Google Analytics 4 for this, and may also use Plausible Analytics in the future.
Analytics cookies are optional. On the public website, we only load Google Analytics after you have explicitly accepted analytics cookies via the cookie banner. If you decline, we do not load Google Analytics and do not set analytics cookies.
You can also disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features (particularly the dashboard) may not work properly without essential cookies.
8. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Moneybird Payments: Payment processing (Moneybird Privacy Policy)
- OpenMeteo: Weather data (OpenMeteo Terms)
- shinyapps.io: Dashboard hosting (Posit Privacy Policy)
- Google Analytics 4: Website analytics for our public site, operated by Google Ireland Limited. We use GA4 to measure visits, traffic sources and interactions in aggregate, and we configure it with IP anonymization. Analytics cookies are only set after you give consent via our cookie banner. - Plausible Analytics (optional): A privacy-friendly analytics service we may use for additional high-level statistics. Plausible does not use cookies and does not store personal data. (Plausible Privacy Policy)
These services have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.
9. International Data Transfers
Our services are available globally. If you are located outside the European Union or your country of residence, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).
10. Children's Privacy
deitalite is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:
- Posting the updated policy on this page with a new "Last Updated" date
- Sending an email to your registered email address (for significant changes)
Continued use of the service after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
